That is the practical difference between the two sizes. A 2-person cabin typically goes where you can already reach a wall outlet. A 3-person cabin usually means a licensed electrician running a dedicated circuit to the spot you have picked, which is a real line item and a real scheduling delay on top of the sticker price.

Not every product page in the catalog declares this spec, so check the electrical line in the spec table on the model you are actually looking at rather than assuming from the seat count. The pattern is strong, but the spec table is the authority.

These two are the pair shoppers cross between most often, and they are a fair comparison: same brand, same Ultra Low EMF far infrared technology, same Canadian Hemlock construction, same tool-free clasp-together assembly. The differences are size, power and price.

Both include interior chromotherapy LED lighting with a red light feature, Bluetooth audio with dual speakers, a digital control panel and a full tempered glass door. The Cardoba Elite publishes a panel count of 7 PureTech carbon panels and an interior of 42" W x 36" D x 68" H. The Lugano Elite publishes an extended bench for stretching, which is the feature most 3-person buyers are actually paying for.

The seat count is the headline, but three other things change with it.

Floor space. The Cardoba Elite occupies 46" x 41", which is about 13 square feet. The Lugano Elite occupies 60" x 45", about 18.75 square feet, and its roof overhang adds 4.3" to the depth you need to clear. That is roughly 5 to 6 extra square feet of committed floor, plus clearance around the cabin. In a spare bedroom that is nothing. In a garage bay next to a car, or a finished basement corner, it is often the deciding constraint.

Electrical work. Covered above, and worth repeating because it is the cost buyers forget. A dedicated 20A circuit is not exotic, but it is an electrician visit, a permit in some jurisdictions, and a wait. If the spot you want is far from your panel, that number climbs.

Delivery and setup. Both ship free curbside, but the Lugano Elite arrives as 3 boxes and weighs 350 lbs assembled against the Cardoba Elite's 2 boxes and 300 lbs. Curbside means the freight carrier brings it to the curb, not into the room, so plan on two people and a clear path either way. Run time is not one of them. Both are far infrared cabins running the same PureTech Ultra Low EMF carbon technology at typical infrared session temperatures. You are buying room, not a different kind of heat.

Here is the comparison almost nobody makes, and it is the one that changes minds. Once your budget reaches roughly $3,299, the third seat stops being the only upgrade available to you.

A note on buying one size up "just in case". It is the most common instinct and it is not always wrong, but the cost of it here is not $1,000, it is $1,000 plus an electrician plus 6 square feet. How much bigger is a 3-person sauna than a 2-person?

Should I buy a bigger sauna than I need?

Do 2-person and 3-person infrared saunas heat differently?
