A home sauna is usually advertised with a single warranty number. That number is almost always describing the cabinet, not the part that heats it.

Across the 143 saunas we currently list, the dominant published term is 5 years on the electronics and 1 year on the heating element. That exact wording appears on 68 infrared saunas priced from $1,399 to $18,999. On traditional and hybrid rooms the same structure appears with the stove in place of the heater: 5 years on electronics, 1 year on the stove, across 14 models from $6,499 to $16,999.

• The wood, the cabinet and the control board are the five-year part. These rarely fail.
• The heater or stove is the one-year part. This is the expensive part, and it is the part that gets replaced.
• Paying more does not buy you a longer term. A $1,399 sauna and an $18,999 sauna in our catalog publish the same warranty structure.

None of that makes a sauna a bad purchase. It means the question worth asking a dealer is not "how long is the warranty", it is "what does year two cost me if the heater goes".

A sauna is a wooden room with a heat source bolted into it. Those two halves age completely differently, and manufacturers price the risk accordingly.

The cabinet is kiln-dried hemlock or cedar, assembled with clip-together panels. Short of water damage or abuse there is very little in it that can break, which is why five years is easy for a manufacturer to offer.

The heat source is doing the actual work. In an infrared sauna that is a set of carbon or ceramic emitters running for hours at a time. In a traditional room it is an electric stove holding a rock bed at temperature. These are consumable-adjacent components, and one year is the term the industry has settled on for them.

So when a listing says "5 year warranty" with no further detail, it is not necessarily wrong. It is usually describing the half of the product that was never your risk.

Two things stand out. First, the rowers are the most honest disclosure in the catalog: four separate terms for four classes of part, which is exactly what every category above is quietly doing with one number. Second, the cold plunge and compression categories do not pretend otherwise. Their headline number is the short one, because the pump, the chiller and the control unit are the product.

This is the finding most buyers do not expect. Within the infrared range, the published warranty is flat across a thirteen-fold price spread.

The Dynamic Barcelona at $1,999 and the largest cabins in the same family carry the same structure. Stepping up to the Barcelona Elite at $2,099 buys you a lower EMF specification, not a longer term.

What the extra money does buy is real, it is just not warranty length. It buys lower EMF, full-spectrum rather than far-infrared emitters, better wood, more seats and better glass. If you are choosing between two models on the assumption that the pricier one is covered longer, check the specification tab before that assumption costs you money.

The one place price does change the answer is the traditional and hybrid range, where you are buying a stove from a named manufacturer. There the stove brand matters more than the sauna brand, and it is worth asking who actually honors the stove term.

Any authorized dealer should be able to answer all five in writing. If a seller cannot, that is the useful signal.

1. Is the heater covered for the same period as the cabinet? Usually no. Get the two numbers separately.
2. Who performs warranty service, and does labor count? On most home saunas the manufacturer ships a replacement part and the labor is yours.
3. What does a replacement heater or emitter set cost out of warranty? This is the real number behind the warranty question.
4. Does the warranty survive if I assemble it myself? On clip-together cabinets it generally does. On anything requiring hard wiring, an unpermitted install can void coverage, which is why the 240V circuit question is worth settling before delivery.
5. Is the seller an authorized dealer of that brand? A manufacturer warranty is only reliably honored through an authorized channel. Grey-market units bought cheaper often are not covered at all.

That last one is the reason a lower price on a marketplace listing is frequently not a lower price. If the heater fails in month fourteen and the unit was never sold through an authorized dealer, you are buying the part twice.

If the sauna is going into a gym, a studio or a clinic, ask for the use rating on that specific model before you order, because installing a residential-rated unit commercially is the fastest way to void the coverage entirely.
