• Every one of them uses a Harvia electric heater and every one needs a dedicated 240V circuit installed by an electrician. There is no 120V plug-in version of this category.

That last point is the one worth sitting with. Indoor traditional and indoor infrared barely overlap on price, and they are different experiences. If you came in with a $2,500 or $3,500 budget and the word "traditional" in your head, the honest answer is that those two things do not meet in this category. They meet in indoor infrared, which is a real product but not a hot-rock sauna.

A few things that are easy to miss reading down that column. There are two pairs at identical prices, Hanko and Sundsvall at $5,999 and Forssa and Copenhagen at $6,999, so in both cases you are choosing on cabinet design and layout rather than on budget. And the whole 2-person to 6-person span is $2,500 wide, which is a much flatter ladder than infrared, where capacity drives price harder.

The two categories get shelved together and they should not be. The difference is the heat source, and everything else follows from it.

• A traditional sauna heats the room. A Harvia electric stove heats a bed of rocks, the rocks heat the air, and the air heats you. You pour water on the rocks for steam, which is the part people mean when they say loyly.
• An infrared sauna heats you directly. Carbon or ceramic panels emit infrared that your body absorbs, and the cabin air stays much cooler. There are no rocks and there is no water.
• Traditional runs hotter and drier until you add water. Infrared runs cooler for longer sessions. Neither is a lesser product, they are different rituals.
• Traditional needs real electrical work. Infrared cabins in our range often run on a standard household outlet. Every indoor traditional model here needs a dedicated 240V circuit.

This is the section most people skip and then rediscover after delivery. Three things matter.

1. The 240V circuit is not optional. Every model on this list specifies a dedicated 240V circuit and an electrician. The two 6-person models, Osla and Kuusamo, specify 240V / 40A. Budget for that work as part of the project, not as a surprise afterward. 2. These are heavy and they arrive by freight. Where we have a published weight, the Andermatt is 400 lbs, the Engelberg 450 lbs, the Osla 715 lbs and the Kuusamo 850 lbs. 3. The room has to tolerate heat and moisture. You are adding steam to an interior room on purpose. Ventilation, flooring and the wall behind the unit all matter more than they do with an infrared cabin. If your candidate space is a finished basement, a garage or a spare bedroom, that is normal and workable, but plan the room, not just the sauna. Capacity is the cleanest way to narrow this list, because the price ladder is flat enough that stretching one tier is usually a few hundred dollars rather than a few thousand.

• Two people, tightest footprint: Hanko or Sundsvall, both $5,999, both Canadian Red Cedar. Pick on cabinet design.
• Two people with room to grow: the Andermatt at $6,499 is rated 2-3 and is built in Pacific Premium Clear Cedar inside and out. It is $500 over the 2-person pair for a meaningful step in capacity.
• Three people: Forssa or Copenhagen, both $6,999. The Copenhagen is a 2025 model year.
• Family scale: the Engelberg at $7,499 is rated 4-6 with a high-output Harvia heater, and it is the cheapest way into a large-format cabin on this list.
• Six people with the full feature set: Osla and Kuusamo at $8,499. Both add a Bluetooth audio system and LED chromotherapy with an interior control panel. They differ in wood, Canadian Red Cedar on the Osla and Canadian Hemlock on the Kuusamo, and in weight.

What is the cheapest indoor traditional steam sauna you sell?

The Hanko Edition and the Sundsvall Edition, both 2-person Canadian Red Cedar cabins with a Harvia electric heater, are our entry point at $5,999 each. Nothing in our indoor traditional range sits below that number.

Do I need a 240V circuit for an indoor traditional sauna?

Yes. Every indoor traditional model we carry specifies a dedicated 240V circuit installed by an electrician, and the two 6-person models specify 240V at 40 amps. There is no version of this category that runs on a standard household outlet, unlike much of our indoor infrared range.

Can I pour water on the rocks in these saunas?

Yes, that is the point of a traditional steam sauna. The Harvia electric heater warms a bed of rocks, and water poured over them produces the burst of steam that Finnish sauna culture calls loyly. Infrared cabins have no rocks and no water, which is the core difference between the two categories.

How many people do these fit?

Is an indoor traditional sauna the same as an outdoor barrel sauna?
